Arun Sharma is a Ph.D. graduate in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, advised by Prof. Shashi Shekhar and Prof. Vipin Kumar. His research sits at the intersection of Spatial AI, physics-informed deep learning, and spatiotemporal data mining. He develops models that incorporate geographic, physical, and geometric structure into deep learning, with applications in geospatial machine learning, autonomous driving, climate downscaling, and anomaly detection. He previously interned at Esri, where he worked on scalable graph-based methods for maritime route optimization and real-time anomaly detection. He holds the University of Minnesota Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, has published in AAAI, SIAM SDM, ACM TIST, ACM TSAS, and ACM SIGSPATIAL, and serves as a reviewer for NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, AAAI, and SIGSPATIAL.
